Our Story

“Dogs” is co-owned by an actress (Vivien), a graphic designer (Maria), and two architects (Tzoui & Grego).

Dogs is a place where clear thoughts take shape over an aromatic cup of coffee. A place where glasses are raised among friends and strangers to the sound of animated conversation and lively beats. A place where innovative design concepts take shape in ever-changing atmospheres.

For over twelve years Dogs has been a staple in Vienna’s night life as a beloved neighborhood bar and as a forerunner in the craft-cocktail scene. Expanding on that experience, we now open our doors during the day for coffee and small bites to eat.

Our commitment to quality products, many from local producers, and quality service is complemented by a desire to provide a place where people have access to new ideas in art and design outside the traditional context of a gallery.

Café

We serve our own espresso blend which is roasted locally specially for us from our friends at kaffeefabrik. Our coffee is organically grown, traded fairly and directly, and roasted in small batches.
The beans are a selected carefully from Minas Gerais (Brazil), Kerala (India) and Sumatra (Indonesia). The result is a full-bodied coffee with little acidity and a dense crema. With aromas of cocoa, nougat and cognac.

Our croissants and pastries are baked fresh every day. Our doors are open in the morning for a coffee to go, a quick espresso at the bar, or for a longer stay to have a bite, read the paper, and catch up on some work.

Bar

Our menu features natural and biodynamic wines from our friends at Von der Vogelweide, artisanal vermouths and amari (Otto) and a cocktail menu built on twelve years of experience of serving good, honest drinks.

Design Lab

We like to think of Dogs as a laboratory for atmospheric experiments. A place where students of art and architecture have the freedom and opportunity to test out ideas with an installation that stays in place for a full year.

As such, Dogs will undergo a revolving transformation every summer, as art and architecture students recalibrate the atmosphere to realize their concepts.
